On June 28, 1989, Lori wed Howard for the first time; they divorced on March 19, 2003. On 25 May 2005, she wedded her ex-husband; however, on 15 July 2008, she finalized their divorce.

The Hustle and Flow actor arrived at her home and started slamming the door as she was on the phone with a police dispatcher. Then, his wife dashed into the backyard and around the back of the house. The record producer then smashed the front door and fled through the kitchen’s screen door.
He then took hold of his ex-wife’s left arm and struck her twice in the left side of the face with a closed hand.
Later, the attack was stopped by Howard’s brother. He had witnessed his actor brother storming out of their home and toward the McCommas.
