On January 5, Ovidio Guzmán-López, 32, who is thought to be the head of his father’s old cartel, was apprehended in Culiacán and transported to Mexico City.
Ten troops and 19 suspects were killed during and after the extensive operation.
According to Defence Minister Luis Cresencio Sandoval, 21 gunmen were apprehended and an additional 35 military members were injured.
Mexican President Andrés López Obrador said that the country’s security personnel behaved honorably in defending innocent victims. No reports of civilian fatalities have yet been made.
Ovidio’s six-month monitoring operation received the support of US government representatives.
Ovidio, also known as “The Mouse,” was sent to a federal jail with the highest level of security after being helicoptered to the nation’s capital.
The alleged offender allegedly controls a division of his father’s famed Sinaloa cartel, a sizable drug-trafficking enterprise.
Ovidio was previously detained by Mexican security agents in 2019, but they later freed him to avoid the possibility of violence from his followers.
According to the U.S. State Department, Ovidio and his brother Joaquin are in charge of 11 methamphetamine production facilities in the state of Sinaloa that produce 1,300–2,200 kg of the drug per month.
They further said that Ovidio requested the deaths of drug dealers, informants, and a Mexican singer who turned down the opportunity to perform at his wedding.
El Chapo Son is Detained in Mexico
Joaqun Guzmán, the father of Ovidio Guzmán-López, was found guilty of drug trafficking and money laundering in 2019 and is presently serving a life sentence in the United States.
His trial provided some graphic information on the workings of Mexico’s drug gangs. One of the most potent drug traffickers in the whole globe, according to reports.

The two main areas of discussion among the leaders are likely to be drug trafficking and stopping migration.
Blockades were erected across Culiacán during the latest operation, and citizens were told to remain indoors.
Security personnel and gang members engaged in gunshot exchanges as many stores were plundered. Similar to this, all schools in Sinaloa were closed on Friday.
