How did Michael Lowry start his Professional Career?

In 1979, Michael Lowry won a seat on North Tipperary’s County Council. In the early 1980s, Michael Lowry was appointed as the Gaelic Athletic Association’s administrator and the Tipperary GAA Board’s youngest chairman.

l Lowry won a seat in Dail Eireann as a Fine Gael TD in the general election of 1987. He created the commercial refrigeration firm Streamline Enterprises in 1988.

Michael was appointed Minister for Transport, Energy, and Communications in the Rainbow Coalition government in 1994. He also rose to the position of Chairman of the Fine Gael Parliamentary Party.

During his time in the ministry, Michael Lowry experienced political issues. Among the controversies are claims of irregularities in the awarding of a mobile phone license to East Telecom, the shutdown of rural post offices, and Lowry’s tax cheating.

As a result of the accusations, Lowry was compelled to leave the Cabinet and was disqualified from seeking the party’s presidential candidacy. In the general election of 2016, Michael Lowry won the seat for Tipperary.

At the Fine Gael Ard Fheis in 1996, Michael Lowry was accompanied by his former cabinet colleagues Michael Noonan and Ivan Yates.
