Michael Tveit was a resident of Warroad, Minnesota, and his family, friends, and community were in shock over his untimely death. After Michael’s death on Friday, July 21, 2023, an unfillable gap was left behind. His son, Darnell, was the center of his existence; he was a loving and committed young father.
He tragically died, shocking and heartbreaking for everyone. Given that the precise cause of Michael Tveit’s death is still unknown, the sudden loss just deepens the mystery surrounding it. Michael Tveit, who was lovingly referred to as Tweeter, was a devoted husband and father as well as a valuable coach at Warroad Boys High School Hockey.
His protective instincts and caring personality made him a role model for many young men he mentored, garnering him the nickname “huge teddy bear” among his high school teammates. He aggressively defended everyone donning the black and gold uniform on the ice, acting as a bodyguard for his team.
In his working life, Michael demonstrated his proficiency in welding technologies—a talent he earned at Alexandria Technical College—by working as a WELDER FABRICATOR at Case New Holland. Warroad Senior High School was the secondary school where he completed his schooling, strengthening his bonds to the community in which he was raised. The community is in profound mourning as word of Michael Tveit’s passing spreads, losing a man whose love, decency, and unshakable dedication impacted countless lives.

We regretfully announce the untimely death of Michael Tveit, a beloved Warroad community member and loving husband and father. On July 21, 2023, Michael, also fondly called Tveiter or Tweeter, departed from this life, taking with him his cherished spouse, Darnell Tveit, and their trio of young sons, Carson, Cooper, and Cullen. Michael’s existence centered around his family because of his unwavering devotion to them.
He was a devoted father who gave his all to raising and caring for his kids, and that love will never stop keeping watch over them from above. In addition to being a devoted husband and father, Michael had a big influence as a coach and mentor for the Warroad Boys High School Hockey team. He became into a ferocious team protector on the ice, fiercely and steadfastly defending his teammates.
March 8, 2023, the 20th anniversary of his team’s triumph in the State Championship, is evidence of his commitment and hockey prowess. Following this devastating death, the Warroad community has shown an unbelievable amount of love and support. TJ Oshie has started a fundraiser to help the Tveit family through this trying time, relieving their financial load, and making sure they can manage without Michael.
Everyone Michael Tveit came into contact with was deeply affected by his kind and compassionate demeanor. Michael will always be cherished in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, and his spirit will never stop inspiring and guiding the rest of us. I hope he finds peace.
