After that, Rene entered politics and held positions as the regional councilor for Poitou-Charentes, president of the general council of Vienna, and mayor of Loudun.
He was therefore credited with contributing to the creation of the Futuroscope of Poitiers. In addition, he earned the moniker “the Loudun garage owner” while running for office. Because of his political engagement in the 1950s, René Monory also went by the moniker “the sheriff,” though it’s unclear whence that moniker originated.
1945 saw him tie the knot with Suzanne Cottet. Michèle, the daughter, was born in the late 1940s and went on to become a jewelry designer. At the age of 85, he passed away on April 11, 2009, following a protracted illness.
