After the two were involved in a 2019 Monaco yachting incident that ended in a person’s death, a financial consultant of Indian ancestry accused Michelle Mone of sending him racist text messages in December 2021.
In a text message, he said Michelle had called him “a waste of a man’s white skin.”
The British politician and entrepreneur denied being racist, citing the fact that she and her ex-husband had “built more than 15 schools in Africa in the past three years.”
Then her lawyers sent a message claiming that she was unable to access her texts and didn’t have a “detailed memory” of them.
Despite being made aware of the allegations of racism, the House of Lords Commissioner for Standards chose not to inquire into them because Michelle made her remarks in her “personal capacity,” not in her role as a member of the House of Lords.
The Metropolitan Police said in January 2022 that they were looking into an allegation of racially offensive harmful communication.
However, the Tory peer’s £50,000 payment to resolve the conflict in August 2022 seems to have put an end to the situation.

Michelle Mone is the focus of yet another controversy. According to The Guardian, Michelle, and her kids got £29 million in unreported earnings from the PPE Medpro deal.
Michelle reportedly campaigned for the payment to be made from government PPE contracts to an offshore trust during the COVID-19 outbreak.
From 2020 to 2022, several investigation articles revealed the information. In January 2022, the House of Lords Commissioner for Standards and Police opened a second inquiry into these contracts.
According to leaked documents, the lingerie entrepreneur is already being looked into for allegedly failing to disclose a stake in PPE Medpro and influencing the company to get a significant contract.
PPE Medpro received £200 million to provide face masks and surgical gowns to the NHS. The Tory peer insisted she had no financial or personal stake in the Company, nevertheless.
