On Tuesday night, Aklant Das, the youngest son of the late Odia actor Mihir Das, passed away.
According to preliminary reports, Aklant was cremated at the Sati Choura crematorium in Cuttack on January 26.
He had been undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar for a hepatic condition for the past month.
Prior to this, Aklant’s father, Mihir Das, passed away in a private hospital in Cuttack in January 2022. According to reports, Mihir had suffered from kidney problems for several years. He was admitted to a Cuttack private hospital and placed on mechanical ventilation.

At the time of his demise, Mihir Das was estimated to have had a net worth of $20 million.
He made his Odia cinema debut in 1979 with the artistic film School Master, followed by the commercial (non-art) film Mathura Bijay. His performance in Pua Mora Bholashankar earned him widespread acclaim and acknowledgement.
He has received the state government’s Best Actor award for his performances in the 1998 and 2005 films Laxmi Protima and Pheria Mo Suna Bhauni, respectively.

Aklant Das, the junior son of the late Odia actor Mihir Das, passed away in the middle of the night while being treated. Due to hepatic concerns, he was hospitalized for one month.
A member of Aklant’s family disclosed that he was receiving treatment and had been in ICU for five to seven days. Yesterday at 9 p.m., physicians informed his family that his condition had deteriorated and he had passed away.
According to family members, Alman, Aklant’s older sibling, was filming in Balugaon when he learnt of his tragic demise.

According to another relative, after the death of his wife, Mihir Das took on the duties of both father and mother in raising his children. Everyone hoped that Aklant would recover and be able to return home. However, he passed away at a much tender age.

Mihir Kumar Das was born in Mayurbhanj on February 11, 1959.
Mihir Das grew up in the Ganjam district after his father moved from Baripada to Chatrapur for employment. Even though he was the youngest son in the family, his affection was no greater than that of others. During his education years, he should have been more engaged in his studies. Typically, he intimidated his parents into skipping school by threatening to leap into their well.
Mihir wed Sangita Das, a vocalist and actress who died in 2010 of a cardiac attack. Her father was the popular singer Chitta Jena. Mihir Das and Sangita Das have two sons, Amlan Das and Aklant Das, who are both actors.
