American stand-up comedian Mohammed Amer, better known by his stage name Mo Amer, is most recognized for being a member of the comedy ensemble Allah Made Me Funny and for his Netflix comedy special Mo Amer: The Vagabond. Born in Kuwait on July 24, 1981, Mohammed “Mo” Mustafa Amer was given the name Mohammed Amer. Due to his dual Kuwaiti-American nationality and Palestinian ancestry, he is classified as mixed ethnicity.
He and the youngest of six children. That means he has five siblings. His father worked as an engineer for the Kuwait Oil Company. During the Gulf War, Amer, his father, Haifa, sister, brother, and mother left their home country of Kuwait when he was nine years old. After coming to the nation, they relocated to Houston, Texas. In 1992, he and his father—a telecom engineer—moved to the nation.
Amer attended Piney Point Elementary while his older brothers were at university. His father died in 1995 when he was fourteen years old. Omar, a pilot, and Amer, a Ph.D.-holding biochemist who eventually changed the family name to Najjar, are his other siblings. In 2022, he will turn 41 years old.
