Mystikal A Rapper Was Arrested On Allegations Of First-Degree Rape

Mystikal

According to WBRZ, rapper Mystikal was detained by the New Orleans police on July 31 under suspicion of first-degree rape.

According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the rapper was taken into custody on Sunday at 12:50 p.m. The five alleged offenses allegedly occurred at 9:21 am on the same day.

The 51-year-old rapper, also known as Michael Lawrence Tyler, is currently awaiting arraignment and has not yet posted bond, according to the Sheriff’s Office’s Inmate Detail Query.

The remaining two were misdemeanors, leaving three of the five charges to be felonies. According to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office’s official record of the arrest, the bond amount has not yet been determined. Furthermore, no date has been set for Tyler’s appearance before the court.

The native of Louisiana was also charged with domestic abuse, domestic violence, simple robbery, and property damage. The property damage Tyler caused is regarded as a misdemeanor in Louisiana.

The damages, as per official records, did not exceed $1,000. He was also charged with unjust imprisonment. The battery charge against Mystikal for domestic abuse also included strangulation. The rapper has, however, previously been found guilty of sexual violence. He was also accused of the same crime in 2004.

At the time, he was given a six-year prison term. In 2012, two years after his release, Michael Tyler, a now-registered sex offender, was found guilty and given a 90-day jail sentence for domestic abuse against his then-partner. In August 2017, Mystikal was accused of sexual assault once more and released on a $3 million bond. However, the lawsuit was reportedly dropped by the accuser since Tyler was not supported by any proof.

Potential fines and penalties

Mystikal is probably going to serve more time in prison because he was found guilty in Louisiana, the state with the highest rate of incarceration in the US. The artist from Here I Go has previous convictions in addition to the three offenses he was charged with during the most recent arrest.

As a result, Michael Lawrence Tyler not only falls victim to Louisiana’s infamous Three Strikes law but also does so more than its requirements. Tyler might face charges under this legislation for being a habitual criminal, which carries the risk of being imprisoned “at hard labor,” according to the Eric John D. & Eric G. Johnson Law Firm.

The 51-year-old native of New Orleans could be sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole or early release on the r*pe charges.

In addition, he could spend up to five years in prison without the chance of parole for the sexual battery offense. Mystikal, meanwhile, faces a fine of $300 to $1,000 as well as a jail sentence of 30 days to six months for the offense of domestic abuse violence.

Similarly to this, Mystikal might be sentenced to a $3,000 fine and seven years in prison without the requirement of working hard. Finally, Michael Lawrence Tyler could be sentenced to up to $500 in fines or six months in jail for his misdemeanor offenses.
