Mystikal A Rapper Was Arrested On Charges Of Alleged First Degree Rape

Mystikal

According to WBRZ, the New Orleans police detained rapper Mystikal on July 31 on suspicion of first-degree r*pe. Sunday at 12:50 p.m., according to the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the rapper was apprehended. He allegedly committed the five offenses on the same day at 9:21 a.m.

According to the Inmate Detail Query of the Sheriff’s Office, the 51-year-old rapper also known as Michael Lawrence Tyler is currently awaiting arraignment and has not yet posted bond.

Two of the five charges were misdemeanors, while three were felonies. According to the official detention report from the Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office, the bond amount has not yet been established. In addition, the date on which Tyler will appear before the court has not been determined.

The Louisiana native was additionally charged with domestic abuse, domestic violence, simple larceny, and property destruction. The property damage caused by Tyler is regarded as a misdemeanor in Louisiana.

According to official documents, the damages were less than one thousand dollars. Additionally, he was accused of wrongful imprisonment.

The domestic violence assault charge against Mystikal included strangulation. Nonetheless, this is not the rapper’s first conviction for sexual battery. In 2004, he was accused of an identical offense.

At the time, he was sentenced to six years in prison. Two years after his release, in 2012, Michael Tyler, a registered s*x offender, was convicted and sentenced to 90 days in prison on domestic violence charges against his then-partner.

In August of 2017, Mystikal was charged with sexual assault once more and released on a $3 million bond. However, the accuser presumably dropped the case against Tyler due to a lack of evidence.

Possible sanctions and penalties

Due to the fact that Mystikal was convicted in Louisiana, the state with the highest rate of incarceration in the United States, the rapper is likely to serve another prison sentence.

In addition to the three offenses committed in his most recent arrest, the Here I Go musician has prior convictions.

Thus, Michael Lawrence Tyler not only meets the requirements of Louisiana’s notorious Three Strikes law but also exceeds them. According to Eric John D. & Eric G. Johnson Law Firm, Tyler could be prosecuted as a habitual offender, which entails the possibility of imprisonment with “hard labor.”

For the accusations of r*pe, the 51-year-old native of New Orleans could face life in prison without the possibility of parole or early release. For the offense of s*xual battery, he could face up to five years in prison without the possibility of release.

Mystikal, meanwhile, faces a fine of $300 to $1,000 and a jail sentence of 30 days to six months for the offense of domestic abuse violence.

Similarly, Mystikal could face a $3,000 fine and seven years in prison without hard labor for mere robbery. Michael Lawrence Tyler faces a fine of up to $500 or six months in prison for his misdemeanor counts.
