The Stranger Things star Natalia Dyer made an appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’s episode 181 of Season 9 on August 12. Megan Thee Stallion served as the show’s guest host.
The love triangle that Nancy Wheeler experienced in the episode was discussed by the actress. Afterward, Dyer noted her Hollywood debut with Hannah Montana:
The Movie when host Jimmy Fallon displayed a picture of her from the movie’s 2009 red carpet premiere. Dyer continued by stating that her appearance on Stranger Things was not her debut in a significant acting role.
“That was my first time walking the red carpet.” Naturally, I dressed as well. We appreciate you coming to the Green Hills Mall, Betsey Johnson.
Natalia Dyer (27) recalled her audition for Hannah Montana 2 with Jimmy Fallon and Megan Thee Stallion. She recalled:
I was raised in Nashville, Tennessee, where I was born. Thus, it isn’t now and wasn’t then a major film hub. Then after that, this great show, you know, came through. It was important. Everyone was overjoyed. They did choose to cast locally for two British, sort of twin roles. And I — They said, “We want a British woman from Nashville, Tennessee.”
In the movie, 14-year-old Natalia Dyer plays Clarissa Granger, one of the two children of journalist Oswald Granger (played by Peter Gunn). The major antagonist of the movie was Miley Stewart, a reporter who sought to uncover Hannah Montana’s secret identity (portrayed by Miley Cyrus).
In Hannah Montana: The Movie, Natalie Dyer’s persona, and her identical twin sister were avid fans of the fictional singer. The actress talked more about the part with PEOPLE Magazine in 2020. She remarked:
I’m unsure of how much of it had an impact on my standing. I doubt that I discussed this in depth about many of my school-related activities. It was just a thing that happened.
The 27-year-old native of Nashville admitted to Cosmopolitan earlier this month that she didn’t think she did a good enough job in the movie with her British accent. She remarked:
Even though it was a bit crazy, it was a lot of fun. I played a character who was British. Although I don’t think I did the accent correctly, I’m not sure I can now do a nice British accent. I was little and my mother was working on the set, so it was all new to me.
Natalia Dyer, however, gained the acting skills she need for another Disney film, The Greening of Whitney Brown, in 2011. Following appearing in brief appearances in movies with a similar theme, Dyer was cast in independent movies including 2013’s Don’t Let Me Go and 2014’s After Darkness. She then got the part of Nancy Wheeler in Stranger Things, which has been her most well-known performance to date.
