Nathan Carman, who was charged with murdering his mother at sea, has died. In relation to the first-degree murder and fraud accusations stemming from the passing of his mother, Linda Carman, of Middletown, Connecticut, Carman, 29, of Vernon, Vermont, entered a not-guilty plea last year.
On a fishing excursion, they went together in September 2016, the prosecution claims that Carman had intended to kill his mother. He then claimed that his boat had capsized and she had gone as a consequence.
He was found floating on an inflatable raft eight days after leaving a marina in Rhode Island with his mother, who was never found.
According to reports, he altered the boat to make it more likely to capsize. Carman has disputed such a claim.
The indictment claims that Carman killed his wealthy grandfather John Chakalos in 2013 at his Windsor, Connecticut, home, despite the fact that no charges were ever brought against him.
