Before she turned 18, the TikTok star left her small town in New Jersey and moved to Los Angeles on her own. Her parents, Drew Barrett and Nez Barrett, were not pleased with her decision to pursue a career in Los Angeles.

Barrett claimed in a 2021 interview with Zachsang Show that her parents initially opposed her decision to move to Los Angeles. The internet celebrity claimed her parents told her she couldn’t succeed in the city’s cutthroat music business. But, at the age of 17, she disobeyed her parents and bought her own house and car.
Barrett’s mother expressed regret for having underestimated her after seeing how hard she worked and how dedicated she was to her music and career. Barrett told Elite in 2020 that her mother had been supportive and extremely proud of her. Her mother, she claimed, never imagined she’d be able to leave the house and live alone.

Barrett has always wanted to work in the music industry. He was born into a musical family. In the family music studio, her father used to write songs. In her first year, her parents also gave her a small toy studio for Christmas. The singer made her studio debut at the age of four. As early as kindergarten, she began writing songs in her notebooks and joining choirs.
Barrett’s mother raised her in Galloway after her parents divorced, and she struggled to fit in. She was a Puerto Rican living in a wealthy white neighborhood to begin with. Barrett thought she was the only Hispanic student at her school because she shared a house with a single mother.
