Newcastle Makina MC Tazo Composes A Rap For The Wembley Final

Before their trip to Wembley, Rapper MC Tazo recorded his own ode to his beloved Newcastle United. As the Magpies qualified for the Carabao Cup final, one of MC Tazo’s buddies recommended he record something, according to the Gateshead resident from Felling.

Makina techno music, which originated in Spain in the 1990s, is immensely popular in the North East.

MC Tazo, whose real name is Kevin Hogg, grew up listening to the music before “falling in love” with it.

“It’s been an underground phenomenon in the North East for twenty years, but throughout the years, more famous DJs have started playing Makina, and it’s becoming more mainstream,” he said.

“After they defeated Southampton, one of my pals told me, ‘You’ll need to write a rap about Wembley.’ I was in my work van at the time and put it to music I was already working on.

“When I arrived home, I told the kids that we would make a TikTok movie for fun, and it went from there.”

Kevin is traveling to London with his sons to see the final this weekend, but it is “uncertain” whether he will perform at any fan zones in the city.

He told Matthew Raisbeck and John Anderson of BBC Radio Newcastle that his travel to London was “more about the game and experiencing Wembley” and enjoying the experience with his family.

Sunday at 16:30, Newcastle United competes against Manchester United.
