A California man was charged with attempted murder after being arrested near the residence of Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh in Maryland.
According to court filings, Nicholas John Roske, 26, planned to assassinate Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh while armed with a handgun and a tactical knife.
Apparently, he called 911 near Kavanaugh’s residence and that he was suicidal and intended to hurt the Supreme Court candidate.
At 1:00 a.m. Pacific Time, the man was detained in front of the Supreme Court Justice’s residence. Ahead of a critical decision on abortion rights in the United States, the judge’s security has been strengthened.
Roske was seized by two US Deputy Marshals as he approached the Supreme Court justice’s mansion after entering a taxi.
Justice Brett Kavanaugh, the accused had “suicidal ideas.”

Reportedly, the defendant called 911 outside Kavanaugh’s apartment and stated that he was suicidal and contemplating the killing of Brett Kavanaugh, a Supreme Court justice. Roske was seized while still on the phone with the emergency dispatch call taker.
According to the press statement, officers found a black tactical chest rig and combat knife, a handgun with two magazines and ammunition, pepper spray, zip ties, tools, and other items after detaining Roske and seizing his bag and luggage.
The Montgomery County Police Department issued the statement below
“The suspect, Roske, was angered by the publishing of a draft Supreme Court rule on abortion rights and the massacre at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas, in which 19 students and two teachers were slaughtered. He anticipated that the judge will issue rulings easing gun control restrictions.
Shiera Goff, a spokesperson for the Montgomery County Police Department, informed various news sources:
“It is believed that the suspect traveled from out of state with the intent to murder Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh.”
During a brief court hearing on Wednesday afternoon, the judge asked him a series of questions to see if he was thinking clearly when he was detained.
He responded,
“I believe I have a good understanding, but I would not describe myself as clear-headed.”
Attorney General Merrick Galand informed sources on Wednesday,
“This type of conduct is very unacceptable to us. Obviously, threats and violence against judges strike at the heart of our democracy, and we will do everything in our ability to prevent them and hold the perpetrators accountable.”
Nicholas Roske allegedly resides in the Santa Susana Mountains as a graduate student. Apparently, he has been experiencing mental health concerns recently and is taking medication to manage them.
The defendant is scheduled to return to court on June 22. If convicted of attempted murder by a federal judge, he faces up to 20 years in federal prison, although actual punishments for federal offenses are frequently less severe.
