Peter Murrell, Nicola Sturgeon’s husband, has been arrested
Peter Murrell, the husband of Nicola Sturgeon, was detained in connection with a financial probe into the Scottish National Party. He was brought into police custody on Wednesday morning and is still being questioned.
Officers said that as part of the inquiry, they were searching numerous locations. In a side street next to the SNP’s headquarters, there were police trucks parked.
Police tape was also placed around the exterior of Sturgeon’s house. In addition, concerns about how the SNP handled £600,000 in donations from the Party to Campaign for and Hold a Second Sovereignty Referendum prompted the investigation’s opening.
