Who is Nikolas Cruz?

A Florida man has pled guilty to the murder of 17 people in a high school campus shooting in Parkland, Florida in 2018. Nikolas Cruz, 23, also pled guilty to 17 counts of attempted murder for the victims of the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting.

He faces either the death penalty or life in jail. The atrocity, one of the bloodiest school shootings in US history, became a rallying cry for gun control supporters.

How did Nikolas Cruz start his Professional Career?

Mr. Cruz was 19 years old when he used an AR-15 weapon to kill 14 pupils and three employees at his previous school. 17 more people were injured. The case will now proceed to a penalty trial, in which jurors must decide whether Mr. Cruz should be spared the death penalty and sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole. Mr. Cruz was expelled from school in 2017.

Later, students and faculty labeled him as an “outcast” and a problem. Local police and the Department of Children and Family Services had already investigated him when he posted evidence of self-harm on the Snapchat platform. The FBI eventually stated that it did not properly follow up on a tip about Mr. Cruz received a month before the shooting.

Many of the shooting survivors have gone on to become prominent activists for gun legislation change and have advocated that action be taken to prevent similar events. In February, during an event commemorating the third anniversary of the shooting, US President Joe Biden called on Congress to implement gun-control legislation, including a ban on assault weapons and an end to legal protection for gun manufacturers.

He was born in Margate, Florida on September 24, 1998. Nikolas was reared in Parkland, Florida, by his adopted family. Roger died when Nikolas was still a child, and Lynda died two months before the Parkland shooting in 2018.

• “He decided to shoot the school,” Borges explained. “I am not God to decide whether or not to murder him.” That is not my choice. decide to be a better person and to make the world a better place for all children.
