Following the publication of pictures supposedly portraying Muslim speaker Nouman Ali Khan “bribing, threatening, and misbehaving” with many women, Nouman Ali Khan came under fire. The screenshots, which Rabia Chaudry initially uploaded and has since deleted, depict inappropriate behaviors.
Following his posting, Pakistani-American preacher Chaudry was sacked for being a “hypocrite” by Omer Mozaffar, a Muslim chaplain at Loyola University Chicago. Following the heated debates, the hashtag #NAKScandal began trending on Twitter.
Many others chastised Khan, calling him a hypocrite and condemning his effort to frighten women. Others supported him. He denied any culpability, and, as is common in rape culture, the victims, including other women, were blamed more than he was.
Nouman Ali Khan Charged With Spiritual Abuse
Khan was accused with spiritual abuse and “luring women into sexual relationships disguised as secret marriages” in September 2017 after a sexting incident. Khan claimed that the released text conversations were “between consensual adults” and that the ladies involved were future brides, despite the fact that he had been divorced for two years.
Khan’s behavior was unworthy of a believer, much alone someone who teaches the Holy Qur’an.” Six prominent Muslim clerics and intellectuals, headed by imam Mohamed Magid, issued a united statement in response to the allegations. Khan had attempted to prevent the statement from being released. Several ladies who came out against Khan were met with harsh replies.
Nouman Ali Khan’s Childhood
Khan, who was born on May 4, 1978 in Germany, grew up in the old East Berlin as a youngster of Pakistani origin. Khan attended the Pakistan Embassy school from second through eighth grade when his father worked at the Pakistani Embassy in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Jordan’s Royal Islamic Strategic Studies Center named him one of the world’s 500 most important Muslims. During the height of the #MeToo movement in 2017, a very conservative American Muslim cleric was accused in a sexting scandal.
Nouman Ali Khan was accused of using his position to attract and groom women into personal relationships under the guise of clandestine weddings while he was legitimately married to someone else. The Muslim community was divided on the subject, with some defending him and others demanding he be held responsible. He disappeared from public view. He now seems to be making a return, similar to a few other men accused of being sexual predators at the height of the #MeToo movement.
