According to Olivia Attwood’s camp, she is “heartbroken” over having to leave I’m a Celebrity… Take Me Away From Here! based on health.
The Love Island star made appearances in the first two episodes of this season and was spotted skydiving on Sunday’s premiere program.
However, a show representative said on Monday that Attwood had quit when doctors warned it was unsafe for her to continue.
Later, her team promised that Olivia would tell the truth to the public.
On Monday night, she sent a note on her behalf to her Instagram page, which read: “Olivia is devastated, and that is an understatement.
“She spent years fantasizing about appearing on “I’m a Celeb,” and she was adoring every moment of the show and dove headfirst into jungle life (just as we knew she would).
But her voyage has been cut short for causes beyond her control.
On Sunday, the TV personality and model joined other celebrities like DJ Chris Moyles, singer Boy George, and ex-English sports stars Mike Tindall and Jill Scott in the celebrity jungle.
Later this week, it’s anticipated that former health secretary Matt Hancock will join the camp.
Attwood’s team continued, speaking directly to her two million fans: “Your encouragement and nice comments have meant the world to her—and they still do.
“Olivia will tell you the truth in due time, and she’ll be back on your screens in the New Year,” Olivia said.
Together with former EastEnders and Gimme Gimme Gimme actress Elaine Lordan, she has the joint-shortest stay in the show’s 20-year history as a result of her departure.
On Sunday’s episode, Attwood was seen jumping out of a helicopter, and on Monday, she participated in her first bushtucker trial.
Compared to Wales’ premiere in 2021, the long-running ITV reality show’s fresh premiere episode on Sunday saw an increase in viewers.
The program, which was broadcast in Australia for the first time in two years following the pandemic, had an average audience of 9.1 million viewers.
An average of 8.03 million people watched the debut from last year, which was once again set in a Welsh castle.
Attwood was observed giving herself a small pep talk before being forced to perform a tandem parachute leap from a helicopter.
She said, “Just need to get back on safe ground in one piece, [with] both boobs, all the [dental] veneers, everything. This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.”
She proclaimed it to be “the most amazing thing I’ve ever done” after landing safely.
She and Boy George were chosen by the audience as the jungle VIPs, which gave her brief tenure on the show a fortunate start. But rather than Very Important Person, this turned out to mean Very Isolated Person.
She reacted to the news by saying, “I am both thrilled and unsettled the public chose for me to be a VIP.
The foursome had to spend their first night marooned on an island outside the camp, which also happened to be Attwood’s last. Attwood and Boy George were joined by their selected guests, Moyles and TV host Scarlette Douglas.
The documentary Getting Filthy Rich, which last year focused on the world of those “selling sex” online, was fronted by Attwood, who has also made appearances on The Only Way Is Essex.
The 31-year-old has previously participated in bush tucker experiments after being forced to consume sheep brains on the I’m A Celebrity spin-off show, Extra Camp.
Olivia Attwood did, however, only participate in one trial, HMS Drown Under, during which she was overheard yelling as she raced to find taps hidden inside a series of “hell holes” to save her crew from drowning. She left the main program after this trial.
Presenter Declan Donnelly informed the audience at the beginning of Monday’s episode: “Unfortunately, Olivia Attwood has left the jungle for medical reasons and regretfully won’t be returning.”
His co-host Ant McPartlin chimed in, “Now, she does feature in tonight’s show, which was shot before she had to leave. “We wish her well and are extremely sorry to see her go.”
Attwood’s departure was announced before of the broadcast by a spokeswoman, who said: “As a precaution, Olivia needs to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks,” the spokesman for the show told the BBC on Monday.
“Olivia Attwood should not return to camp, according to the medical team’s regrettable advice, since more research is required.
She has been fantastic, and the show will miss having her.
