During the current episode of Running Wild with Bear Grylls, English actress Florence Pugh revealed that she suffers from tracheomalacia, a rare respiratory condition. On the 15th of August segment of the show, the 26-year-old singer stated that her family was advised by her doctor to migrate from wet England to pleasant Spain.
“We were in Spain because I have asthma and tracheomalacia, and I was advised when I was younger that a hotter environment would be healthier.” I have asthma and tracheomalacia. Hence, I’ve had a peculiar respiratory system from a young age.”
According to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, tracheomalacia entails:
“Since the cartilage in the windpipe, or trachea, did not develop properly or was destroyed, the tracheal walls are flaccid as opposed to rigid. The cartilage is unable to maintain the windpipe’s open position, making breathing difficult, especially during exhalation (exhaling). Sometimes, pressure from neighboring blood vessels might cause the trachea to collapse.”
Yet, the Black Widow actress reported that her health has improved over time. Unless I am sick, it does not bother me nearly as much as it did when I was younger.
Florence Pugh embarked on a 48-hour adventure with Bear Grylls that began with her jumping from a helicopter and proceeding through the volcanic jungles of Costa Rica.
Florence Pugh has explored tracheomalacia previously.
In July 2020, he spoke with Sue Perkins about her experience with tracheomalacia during the coronavirus pandemic on her podcast.
She stated,
“When I was a newborn, I’ve had this respiratory condition, so my mother has continuously had to be on the watch for new infections and diseases that could potentially hurt me.”
She continued by stating that her mother had urged her to travel to Los Angeles in order to prevent contracting the new coronavirus. Pugh informed the writer that her disease has improved over time, as she no longer becomes ill as frequently as she did as a child.
While having conquered the initial diagnosis of her sickness, the Little Women actress stated in an interview with Vogue in 2020 that she still had a “terrifying cough.”
Florence Pugh made her acting debut alongside Maisie Williams, Maxine Peake, Greta Scacchi, Hannah Rose Caton, Anna Burnett, and Lauren McCrossin in Carol Morley’s 2014 film The Falling.
Later in her career, she appeared in numerous television programs and films, such as Studio City, Marcella, The Commuter, Malevolent, The Little Drummer Girl, Midsommar, Acting for a Cause, Black Widow, and Hawkeye, among others.
