On Saturday, April 30, Bill Murray appeared on CNBC to address allegations of impropriety during the making of his new film, Being Mortal. Searchlight Pictures has already paused filming owing to the actor’s inappropriate behavior on set.
The 71-year-old man stated that he had “done something” that he believed to be humorous, but “it wasn’t taken that way.” The producers opted to suspend production last week in order to examine the event.
Being Mortal has reportedly completed over fifty percent of its principal filming, with a 2023 release date predicted. Unknown is whether the film will resume production with Murray’s participation.

End of the second week of April, Deadline reported that the Ghostbusters star allegedly behaved inappropriately on the set of Being Mortal, forcing Searchlight Pictures to launch an investigation.
Murray later told CNBC that he and a woman on site had a “difference of opinion.” It is unknown whether the woman was a performer or a member of the team. CNBC’s Becky Quick spoke with the actor, who stated:
I did something that I thought was funny, but it was not received as such.
Bill Murray also alluded to being in contact with the individual, stating that both parties are working to “make peace with one another.” Murray’s remarks implied that the woman was a co-star. He declared:
“We’re both professionals, we love each other’s work, and we like each other, so there’s no use in collaborating or making the film if we can’t get along and trust one another. It has been a wonderful learning opportunity for me.”
Once filming resumed, the actor was optimistic that they would be able to put the incident behind them. Bill Murray went on to discuss how he learned from his mistakes through experience.
Murray did clarify, however, that he would not begin his peace offering unless the woman involved in the incident consented.

Lucy Liu, star of Elementary, spoke about her unpleasant experience on the set of Charlie’s Angels (2000), starring Bill Murray, last year. According to the Los Angeles Times, Murray shouted at Liu for missing a scene modification.
Liu did not provide specifics, but she did say:
Some of the profanity was abhorrent and unpardonable…
While no further allegations have been made against Murray, it remains to be seen how his past difficulties will affect his chances to be cast in future Hollywood films.
