On Friday, February 3, 2023, Pablo Lyle, a Mexican actor, was sentenced to five years in prison, eight years probation, and 500 hours of community service for fatally striking a man during a road rage incident.

In April 2019, Pablo Lyle got into a fight with 63-year-old Juan Ricardo Hernandez during a road rage incident in Miami, Florida. Hernandez, who had fallen on his head on the road, was allegedly assaulted by the former.

According to reports, the man suffered brain damage and died four days later at a nearby hospital. Lyle was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter in connection with the murder in October 2022. Lyle is a telenovela actor best known for his roles in La Sombra Del Pasado and Yankee. He has been imprisoned since his conviction in October of last year, according to the Associated Press.

Pablo Lyle, Hernández’s son, asked for the maximum penalty of 15 years in prison.

According to ABC, Pablo Lyle could face up to 15 years in prison. Lyle’s defense claimed he punched Hernandez in self-defense because he was with his children at the time of the incident and thought the 63-year-old was armed.

Hernandez, on the other hand, was discovered unarmed. Lyle’s defense team asked for a new trial shortly after his conviction in October, but Miami-Dade Circuit Judge Marisa Tinkler Mendez denied the request.

She claimed that security footage of the incident, which showed Lyle approaching Hernandez and hitting him, proved he was the primary aggressor. Tinkler stated:

“The evidence shows that Mr. Lyle’s actions were violent. Mr. Lyle must face consequences for his actions.”

Hernandez’s son, Juan Ricardo Hernández Jr., asked the court to sentence Lyle to 15 years in prison. In court, he testified that he was present when his father died. The victim’s son also claimed to have seen his father shortly after he was admitted to the hospital, where he died four days later.

Junior Hernandez stated:

“I couldn’t believe it was him.”

The victim’s fiancée, Mercedes Arce, stated:

“I know (Pablo Lyle’s) intention was not to murder him, but anything can happen in a split second. Every action has an effect.”

Tinkler stated in response to the victim’s family’s request for the maximum penalty that neither side would be satisfied with her decision:

“This was one of the most difficult decisions I’ve had to make. Nobody in this room will be pleased. Nobody here will ever forget how much pain this has caused.”

According to Fox News, Pablo Lyle just apologized to the victim’s family in a formal statement for his behavior during the trial hearing, saying:

“I sincerely apologize. “From the bottom of my heart, I constantly pray for him and for you.”

The trial was closely watched by the Latin American community, according to the Miami Herald.
