Pablo Milanes passed away in Spain while undergoing treatment for blood cancer. Due to his hospitalization earlier this month, he postponed his performances.
The performer was admitted to the University Hospital Complex of La Coruna in June 2014 due to renal failure. His kidney was donated by his wife Nancy Perez, who underwent a transplant.
According to sources at the time, both Perez and Milanes were recovering well from the procedure. Pablo reportedly underwent 22 operations throughout his life due to persistent necrosis in the tip of the femur, which caused him extreme pain.
In March 2012, he underwent a second operation after doctors discovered an umbilical hernia that may have caused peritonitis. In addition to these health concerns, there have been numerous rumors about his health over the years.

Milanes was regarded as one of the few vocalists who adhered to the traditional origins of Cuban music while also being receptive to musical influences from other modern traditions such as blues and Brazilian music.
He composed poetry for Cuban poets such as Jose Marti and Nicolas Guillen and was influenced by Lorenzo Hierrezuelo, Benny More, Maria Teresa Vera, Lucho Gatica, and others.
After relocating to Spain, he assaulted various elements of the Cuban government. The collapse of the Cuban Revolution was discussed, which had a significant impact on his friendship with Silvio Rodriguez. His wife and two children survive him.
