In 1948’s Hometown, Carroll made her acting debut. Next, she appeared on NBC’s Caesar’s Hour. She won an Emmy Award for her performance in the latter, and she was a regular on the comedy series Make Room for Daddy from 1961 to 1964.

From 1950 until 1970, Carroll made appearances on a number of variety shows, including a special episode of June Allyson’s anthology series The DuPont Show. She co-starred in a 1965 musical version of Cinderella as Prunella.

Pat portrayed Pearl Markowitz on the CBS sitcom Busting Loose and Lily on the ABC comedy Laverne & Shirley in 1976. She performed a lot of voice work on animated series including A Pop Named Scooby-Doo, Galaxy High, Pound Puppies, and others during the 1980s while making frequent TV appearances.

She gained notoriety playing Ursula in The Little Mermaid, a role to which she has since returned in a number of video games, a spinoff series, and the Disney+ series The Wonderful World of Mickey Mouse, in addition to special occasions and performances at Disney theme parks.
