In 2008, Reed began playing golf at the University of Georgia in Athens. But after a minor prosecution, he departed Georgia and enrolled at Augusta State University.
Reed, a promising golfer, assisted Augusta State in winning back-to-back NCAA Division I championships in 2010 and 2011.
The 2018 Masters Tournament and two World Golf Championships are among his nine PGA Tour victories.
Patrick Reed Scandal: Cheater Caught in the Act
The Patrick Reed affair began while he was a college student and was linked to allegations of stealing and dishonesty.
Shane Ryan, a writer, discussed Reed’s transgression in his book “Slaying the Tiger: A Year Inside the Ropes on the New PGA Tour.”
In the book, Shane describes how Reed stole from his colleagues and cheated during a qualifying round at Georgia, which caused him to transfer to Augusta State.
When he hit a shot deep into the rough during a tournament qualifying round, the American golfer was a first-year student at the University of Georgia.
But supposedly there was another ball that was nearer the fairway. When Reed made plans to hit the alternate ball rather than the first one, his teammates confronted him.
Patrick promptly rejected the claim that he was unaware of the altered nature of the ball. The boys, however, did not believe his assertions.
When questioned about the event, the 32-year-old continues to vehemently deny infidelity. However, several sources have backed up his college-era cheating allegation.
Reed is characterized as rude, brash, arrogant, and unrepentant by his former college pals. He never appeared to give the effects of his actions any thought.
When valuables and $400 in cash vanished from the locker area, Reed was also the subject of a theft accusation.
In the world of golf, Reed’s altercations with colleagues and his two drunkenness arrests are well-known.
The 32-year-old was also closely examined for a violation at the 2019 Hero World Challenge. He is accused of twice moving sand behind his ball in a waste area.
In response, Reed said that he was unaware of the movement and blamed his viewpoint and the camera for his ignorance.
He got harsh condemnation for his behavior from both players and analysts.
