Paul Vallas was born to a Greek-American family on June 10, 1953, in Chicago, Illinois. The politician withheld the identity of her parents. His parents were American citizens who had also immigrated to Greece. In the Roseland district of Chicago’s South Side, Vallas was raised. He was born and reared in the Chicago suburbs and spent his teenage years in Palos Heights.
After completing his education at Carl Sandburg High School, Vallas enrolled at Moraine Valley Community College. He received a bachelor’s in history from Western Illinois University and a master’s in political science from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign before graduating.
