The uncontested leader of the MotoGP championship, Pecco Bagnaia, was part of the terrifying first-lap collision that led to the Catalan Grand Prix being red-flagged. News of the Pecco Bagnaia accident has drawn the attention of readers.
Bagnaia led the field out of Turn 2 at Barcelona after suffering a terrible high side that sent him flying astonishingly high into the air off his Ducati. As he landed, he kept spinning around.
The current champion veered straight into Brad Binder’s KTM, seemingly running over Bagnaia’s legs, but luckily, the rest of the field avoided him.
Following the event, Bagnaia was taken by ambulance to the hospital for an examination before being sent to Hospital General de Catalunya.
The official MotoGP website states that although Bagnaia had many injuries from the collision, the initial x-rays had only shown “a small injury” that could not be positively linked to the event. This information was relayed to the Spanish network DAZN by MotoGP’s medical director, Angel Charte.

Despite being “conscious and oriented” after the crash, Bagnaia proceeded to the hospital for a CT scan, according to Charte, who added that “it is difficult to be sure there is no fracture.”
Regretfully, that was the second notable collision of the race in as many turns, which is impressive.
Teammate and Ducati rider Enea Bastianini took an extremely aggressive inside line into the first turn, eventually running out of room with the lead Ducati rider Johann Zarco.
Three other Ducati riders, including Alex Marquez and Fabio Di Giannantonio of Gresini Ducati and Marco Bezzecchi of VR46 Ducati, were also engaged in the collision besides Bastianini and Zarco.
After being brought to the medical center, Bastianini was also carried to the hospital; however, he did so on a scooter as opposed to an ambulance because he may have had hand and ankle fractures.
Consequently, neither of the Ducati work machines turned back on.
He made his Pre-GP 125 Mediterranean Championship debut in 2010 with the Monlau Competición squad, placing second overall.
In 2011, he participated in the Spanish Championships in the 125cc class and won one of the races.
In the 2012 CEV Moto3 season, he rode a Honda NSF250R and finished third in the championship behind Luca Amato and Lex Márquez, with two wins and two second-place finishes in seven races.
Bagnaia is still a member of the VR46 Riders Academy.
