Peter Paul Montgomery Buttigieg, sometimes known as Pete Buttigieg, is a former military officer who now serves as the nation’s 19th Secretary of Transportation. Paul, a Democrat, held the position of mayor of South Bend, Indiana for 32 years, from 2012 to 2020, earning the nickname “Mayor Pete.”
Buttigieg formally launched his campaign for the 2020 US presidential election on April 14, 2019. He filed as a candidate in the Democratic Party’s presidential primary. With his victory in Iowa, Buttigieg became the first openly homosexual candidate to prevail in a presidential primary or caucus.

On December 14, 2017, Pete shared on Facebook that he got engaged to junior high school teacher Chasten Glezman. After meeting on the dating app Hinge, they began dating in August 2015. On June 16, 2018, the pair tied together via the marriage knot in an intimate ceremony at the Cathedral of St. James.
On August 17, 2021, the politician revealed that he and his spouse had become parents. Similarly, the military commander announced the adoption of two brand-new fraternal twins on September 4, 2021.
On Twitter, Buttigieg shared a tender photo of him and his spouse holding their kids, Penelope Rose and Joseph August. In July 2022, Pete changed Traverse City, Michigan, to his permanent residence and registered to vote there.
