Pete McKee stated that the former Oasis lyricist approached him last year and requested permission to use the term “Council Skies” on his new album.
A painter from Sheffield reported that Noel Gallagher requested permission to use the title of a book including the artist’s paintings as the name of his upcoming album.
Mr. McKee is renowned for his vibrant representations of South Yorkshire’s everyday life.
He was “proud as punch” that the rock singer had used the title of his book. Mr. McKee was shocked when he received the phone call from Mr. Gallagher.
“He informed me that he had created what he considered to be the best song he had ever written, and that he was going to call it Council Skies. He also wanted to name the album Council Skies,” Mr. McKee explained.
“He stated that he obtained the title from my book on his bookcase.
It is a huge honor to be recognized for that. Mr. McKee stated that he appreciated the celebrity calling him to inquire.
He said,
“He wanted to do the right thing and make sure I was comfortable with it.”
Mr. McKee stated that their connection began 15 years ago when he mailed a reproduction of one of Gallagher’s paintings to him.
He stated,
“I believed that would resonate with him.”
A little boy was sitting on the edge of a bed with his guitar on his lap while learning to play along with a Beatles CD.
Later, he created artwork for Gallagher’s benefit concerts for the Teenage Cancer Trust.
The artist stated that he utilized tester pots for his paintings and coined the term Council Sky to describe a particular shade of blue.
This 2019 publication offers a “complete review of the artist’s work since he began painting in 2004,” according to its description.
In June, Gallagher will release his fourth album with High Flying Birds, the band he formed after the 2010 dissolution of Oasis.
