A well-known American professional ice hockey player of Canadian ancestry, Peter Mcnab was born on May 8, 1952. He served the Avalanche as a color commentator for more than 25 years.
McNab came from a well-known ice hockey family. The Detroit Red Wings won the Stanley Cup in 1950 when Max McNab was a member of the squad. Later, he had jobs as a coach and general manager.
David, Peter’s brother, spent 43 seasons in the National Hockey League as a scout and executive until resigning from his post as senior vice president of hockey operations for the Anaheim Ducks in May 2021.
Before retiring last season, Peter’s brother David worked with the Anaheim Ducks for 40 years as their vice president of hockey operations.
Over the course of a 14-year career, Peter played in over 954 games with the Buffalo Sabres, Boston Bruins, Vancouver Canucks, and Devils, scoring 363 goals and accumulating 818 points.

Peter McNab, a former NHL player who rose to fame as a Colorado Avalanche commentator, died away on Sunday. He was 70.
His demise was announced through a joint social media announcement from The Avalanche and Altitude T.V. Late in the summer of 2021, McNab revealed he was fighting cancer; however, in February, he declared it to be in remission.
When the Avalanche beat Tampa Bay to win their third Stanley Cup in June, Peter was a member of the broadcast crew.
McNab said, “You can only imagine my emotions yesterday and today; the overwhelming emotion I have is gratitude.” I appreciate all of your kind words and help over the last several months. The significance of this to the whole McNab family and to me cannot be overstated.
Before the N.H.L. preseason on September 29, 69-year-old McNab revealed he was fighting cancer. The former University of Denver star, who participated in 995 NHL games over 14 seasons, was honored in the United States.
There is no indication of the sort of cancer that Peter Mcnab was facing.
