Ian Hanke, a former ministerial advisor to Reith, said, “It is with deep sadness that we confirm that Peter Reith died peacefully in the afternoon of November 8, 2022, following a valiant battle with Alzheimer’s illness.”

During his 17-year employment, Mr Reith served as an assistant to John Hewson, Alexander Downer, Andrew Peacock, and John Howard. John Howard, a former prime minister, lauded his “close buddy.” According to Mr Howard, “the Liberal Party has lost a persistent champion of what it believes in.”
