Although the singer was “an innocent bystander,” Houston police claimed that the shooting was related to a game of dice.

Takeoff was the rap group Migos’ youngest member, and his passing was lamented by admirers and musicians.

At a news conference on Friday, Houston Police revealed that they had captured Patrick Xavier Clark, 33, in custody using surveillance footage from the shooting’s night of the occurrence.

According to Houston Police Chief Troy Finner,

“[Clark] was there on the scene and he had a firearm.”

He stated that the inquiry was still underway and that he had made a call for any potential witnesses to come forward and provide the police with information.

Chief Finner pleaded with them,

“Don’t let the dread paralyze you.” “Stand up and speak up.”

Houston’s mayor, Sylvester Turner, expressed his wish that Takeoff’s family will find some solace in the arrest.

In addition to being an entertainer, he continued, Takeoff was also a “son, brother, cousin, and friend, as well as a mentor to others in the music profession.”

Takeoff, whose real name is Kirsnick Khari Ball, was a member of the Migos rap group, an Atlanta-based group that topped the charts with songs including Stir Fry and Bad and Boujee. They received two Grammy nominations in 2018: one for best rap album and one for best rap performance.

Fans and artists including Drake, Kid Cudi, Dave, and Rick Ross paid tribute to Takeoff following his passing, calling him a “young legend” and the father of the “Migos flow,” a distinctive form of rapping.

The fight started at the end of a private party following a dice game, and the 28-year-old musician was one among three persons shot outside a downtown Houston bowling alley at 02:30 local time (07:30 GMT) on November 1.

Takeoff was neither a participant in the dice game nor the argument that occurred outside the alley, according to Sgt. Michael Burrow of the Houston Homicide Division, also claimed that Takeoff was not armed.

He was a defenseless bystander, according to Sgt. Burrow.

During the incident, a woman and another male both sustained non-life-threatening wounds.

In connection with the incident on November 22, 22-year-old Cameron Joshua was also detained and charged with unauthorized weapon possession.
