Horror-themed videos have invaded TikTok’s Horror Tok area, which features horror-themed content. These videos include Huggy Wuggy, a new frightful mascot.

Despite the fact that the character’s name gives it the appearance of being benign, its true nature warrants parental concern. Strange events have frequently made headlines on the internet. In 2019, the Momo Challenge went viral, but in 2020, frightful wandering clowns took the top spot. On TikTok and YouTube, Huggy Wuggy is staking a claim to the 2022 mascot title.

Before going to TikTok, where the hashtag #huggywuggy has received over 2.9 billion views, the mascot triggered a frenzy of fan-created content on YouTube. A YouTube user named TryHardNinja even created a chilling theme song for the eerie blue plush called Free Hugs with the lyrics:

Making a friend, I’ll be there soon, sinking my teeth in, and you’re eaten: “Running around in a darkly lighted room”

Huggy Wuggy became a TikTok celebrity as a result of this unofficial theme, which inspired others to create videos based on the jumpscares in the video game. Others showcased their abilities by producing claymations, cosplays, Huggy Wuggy makeup makeovers, or artwork.

Jake Fellman’s videos on TikTok with the hashtag have earned 6.8 million likes and almost 85 million views. Huggy Wuggy movies continue to rule the short-video market despite Poppy Playtime’s existence for more than six months.

It’s no surprise that Huggy Wuggy has become a household name among kids given the trend’s massive virality, primarily via YouTube rather than TikTok. Schools in the United Kingdom have expressed worry over “children replicating a game on the playground with embracing and whispering nasty things in the recipient’s ear.” However, the exposure has had unexpected outcomes.

Now that the authorities are aware of these worries, they have publicly advised parents to keep their kids away from anything that features the scary image.

Chris Conroy, the Dorset Police Cyber Protection Officer, stated to The Sun:

With this somewhat horrifying image of this bear-like figure with razor-sharp teeth, movies and songs have been developed, and they are springing up all over YouTube and Tik Tok.

It is based on jump scares and other things that parents shouldn’t expose children to.

A mother of a five-year-old son named Rhea Fern told the Derbyshire Times:

“I believe it to be on YouTube, and it’s quite unsettling that this Huggy Wuggy has entered my child’s mind without my knowing as a parent.”

This guy is really nasty and, to be perfectly honest, horrifying, so it’s rather troubling. It’s remarkably similar to the Killer Clown fad on the internet.

Huggy Many parents are unaware of the extreme levels of violence their children are exposed to as a result of Wuggy’s false moniker. Administrators at schools and cyber police have warned parents to be cautious about the information their kids are exposed to.
