Tabby Diamond died recently after being fatally shot in a Jamaican drive-in. One person was killed and three people were injured on McKinley Crescent in St. Andrew, Kingston, on March 29. Owen Beckford, the second victim, is reportedly Diamond’s cousin.
Two men and a woman are reportedly being treated for gunshot wounds. The senior superintendent of the St Andrew Police Division, Kirk Ricketts, told Loop News that a preliminary investigation suggested that the shooting may have been related to a local gang rivalry.
Ricketts stated that police are examining if the alleged illegal conduct of Tabby’s son, who is currently incarcerated for murder, may have led to the singer being targeted.
According to the statement, Diamond and Beckford were standing with a group of people at a business on McKinley Crescent when an unidentified shooter opened fire, hurting five people.
The performer was reportedly struck multiple times in the face before being transported to a neighboring hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Tabby Diamond was a member of the renowned Jamaican reggae harmony trio The Mighty Diamonds. Information regarding his family, occupation, and education has not yet been disclosed.
Three buddies formed the band in 1969 and have remained together ever since. Their debut album, Right Time, was published in 1976, and their second album, Deeper Roots, was released in 1979.
Schoolmates Tabby Diamond, Fitzroy Simpson, and Lloyd Ferguson created The Limelight in the mid-1960s. Their silky harmonies and planned theatrical spectacle were inspired by Motown vocal groups of the 1960s.
Their early records were produced by Pat Francis, Stranger Cole, Derrick Harriott, Bunny Lee, Lee “Scratch” Perry, and Rupie Edwards. Midway through the 1970s, their biggest break came as a result of their relationship with producer Joseph Hoo Kim.
1976 saw the release of their debut album, Right Time, after being signed to Virgin Records. The album was a success and was followed by Ice on Fire, which failed to impress the public.
Their second album, Deeper Roots, was a commercial success and was released on the group’s own Bad Gong label. In the early 1980s, they collaborated with producer Gussie Clarke and released Changes in 1981.
One of the Changes’ songs, Pass the Kouchie, became an international hit. The group’s 1982 performance at Reggae Sunsplash was recorded and released the following year on an album.
They continued to release records and adapted to the dominant digital rhythms of the 1980s and beyond. In 2021, on the 59th anniversary of Jamaica’s independence, the group was honored with National Honours and Awards.
