Because of his dedication to the game, the former soccer player also worked for the Special Olympics, where he was the Soccer Director from 1991 to 2004.

Between 1984 and 1992, he hosted two popular soccer camps—the Fred Meyer Soccer Camps and the well-known Bernie Fagan Soccer Camps—with Clive Charles, a former Timbers teammate and legendary member of the club.

Hundreds of Portland children attended these camps, further solidifying his reputation in the game.
