Primoz began his NBA career after being selected in the first round of the 2000 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers. He previously played for Kraski Zidar and Union Olimpija before joining the NBA. Primoz Brezec spent three years with the Pacers before being selected by the Charlotte Bobcats in the 2004 NBA Draft.
He averaged 13.0 points and 7.4 rebounds for the Bobcats in 2004-05. He and Walter Herrmann were traded to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Nazr Mohammed on December 14, 2007.
