R Kelly is facing various sex charges dating back to 1994, when he was 27 years old and married 15-year-old singer Aaliyah.
When vibe magazine revealed Aaliyah had lied about her age on the wedding certificate, the marriage was deemed null and void.
Kelly bribed a government employee to obtain a phony ID for Aaliyah to marry her, according to a former tour manager.
Tiffany Hawkins sued R Kelly in 1996 for “personal injuries and emotional distress” she suffered during a three-year relationship with him. The matter was later resolved for $250,000.
Tracy Sampson sued R. Kelly in 2001, alleging him of luring her “into an indecent sexual relationship” when she was 17 years old.
Sampson and a former Epic Records intern said that they were treated as his personal sex object and were pushed aside.
Patrice Jones filed a lawsuit against R. Kelly in 2001, alleging that he impregnated her when she was underage and forced her to get an abortion.
Montina Woods filed a lawsuit against Kelly, alleging that he filmed them having intercourse without her knowledge.
Both cases were resolved out of court for unknown amounts in exchange for non-disclosure agreements.
He was accused with 21 counts of creating child sexual assault tapes including various sexual actions in June 2002.
The case was finally tried after six years, but Kelly was acquitted when the jury decided they couldn’t prove the girl on the tape was a minor.
Kelly was charged and jailed again in 2004 for making child sexual abuse photographs from his vacation home in Florida.
In 2017, he was charged with enslaving six women in a sex “cult.” Before taking control of their life, he captivated young women who approached him for aid with their music careers.
Kelly was arrested in Chicago on federal allegations of aggravated criminal sexual abuse in July 2019.
An additional 11 counts of sexual assault and abuse against a minor aged 13 to 16 were later filed.
Kelly was charged with three federal offenses in Illinois, Minnesota, and Brooklyn.

Kelly is charged with nine counts of sexual exploitation of children, racketeering based on criminal conduct, forced labor, and Mann Act violations, including the trafficking of females in interstate commerce to participate in illegal sexual activity.
Singer R. Kelly was sentenced to 30 years in prison by United States District Judge Ann M. Donnelly on June 29, 2022.
She claimed the artist had a “indifference to human suffering” and used sex as a weapon, forcing his victims to do awful things and infecting some with sexually transmitted diseases.
“You taught them that love is enslavement and violence,” she added.
