Jamie Crick died after a short illness, which was revealed by his family just hours after he did his last radio show. Jamie Crick, a Classic FM presenter, has perished at the radio broadcaster.e of 57, his relatives have announced.

The broadcaster who spent 20 years at the station before anchoring the breakfast and then the afternoon drivetime slots on Jazz FM passed away on Tuesday, just one day after his final broadcast.

Bauer Media reports that the broadcaster perished after a brief illness, although the cause of death has not been certified at the time of publication. Bauer Media UK’s representative stated, “Jamie Crick was a true broadcaster and performed a vital role on our radio stations.

“He was also a dear companion to his coworkers at Jazz FM, Scala Radio, and the broader Bauer Media teams. All of them, including his friends and listeners, will mourn him greatly. While they all come to terms with Jamie’s untimely death, our radio stations will continue to play his favorite music every day in his memory.

“Our deepest condolences are with his family and loved ones at this time.” Jazz FM has also paid tribute to X, formerly known as Twitter, a social networking website.

Sharing a photo of Jamie, they wrote,

“We are heartbroken to report that our friend and Jazz FM Family Member Jamie Crick passed away after a brief illness. His family and loved ones have our sincerest condolences at this time.”

Jamie presented programs on Scala Radio and helped establish the first LGBTQ+ radio station in the United Kingdom, Gaydar Radio, in 2001. Crick joined Bauer Media UK’s Jazz FM as a guest presenter in 2014, before taking over the breakfast program in 2015 and the afternoon position in 2016. He had been employed by Classic FM since 1994.

Several broadcasters have taken to X to pay tribute to Jamie since his death was announced, including Mark Carter, the BBC South and BBC South East deputy managing director, who wrote:

“Hugely devastated to hear of Jamie Crick’s departure. Long before his national success, I heard Jamie on County Sound and thought, “That’s the type of host I want to be.” I was delighted to welcome him into the @BBCSussex @BBCSurrey family many years later.”

Jason Rosam of BBC Radio London added, “Deeply saddened to learn of the demise of my friend and mentor Jamie Crick. He gave me my first position in radio, and his insight, counsel, and unwavering support shaped me in indescribable ways. Forever appreciative of the shared experiences and the lessons learned. “Rest in peace, Jamie”

Presenter for Absolute Radio and Jazz FM Danielle Perry tweeted:

“A tragic day. Jamie was welcoming, kind, fashionable, humorous, and an impeccable broadcaster, and I’ve only known him for six months at @jazzfm @ScalaRadio – what an impression he’d already made! Sending his family love and light… I will mourn the daily link ‘Up next…Jamie Crick’.”

Nick Pitts, director of content for Jazz FM, added,

“I am very fortunate. I am able to form friendships with some incredible coworkers. Jamie Crick was one of those exceptional individuals for whom I had great regard. Someone who enjoyed being on the air and who cared for others has left our planet. “#R.I.P. JamieCrick”
