Ralph Ahn, age 95, passed away recently. James Ahn, president of the Korean American Federation of Los Angeles, reported the actor’s death on February 28. According to the Korean news agency YNA, Ahn died in Los Angeles after being hospitalized for an illness. The cause of death is currently unknown.
Ralph portrayed Tran on New Girl for seven episodes from 2011 until 2018. The character became a fan favorite despite having few words since he used facial expressions and body language to assist Nick with his problems.
Lamorne Morris also praised Ralph on Instagram, claiming that he had the show’s funniest moments. Zooey Deschanel, who played Jessica Day on the television show New Girl, expressed her sympathy.

Ralph Ahn was born in 1926 to the Korean nationalist and American historical hero Dosan Ahn Chang-ho. In 1902, Ahn’s parents became the first Koreans to immigrate to the continental United States.
After the death of his father, Japan attacked Pearl Harbor, leading the United States to enter World War II. The Los Angeles, California native joined the American Navy in 1944 to oppose the Japanese. He became an actor after his brother Philip Ahn inspired him to do so.
Ahn taught business mathematics and coached the varsity football team at Bishop Alemany High School in Mission Hills, California, from 1964 to 1968.
After portraying Tran in the television series New Girl, the Let It Ride actor catapulted to stardom in 2012. In January 2017, he invited the cast of the South Korean variety show Infinite Challenge to Los Angeles as a representative of the Korean-American community.
Ralph then spoke at a Riverside, California ceremony commemorating Pachappa Camp’s status as the nation’s first Korean settlement in 2017.
