Former Canadian professional ice hockey player Raymond Sawada. On February 19, 1985, he was born in Richmond, British Columbia, Canada, and regrettably, he died there on April 10, 2023.
Between 2004 and 2008, Raymond played collegiate hockey for Cornell University, where he studied Applied Economics and Management. Raymond Sawada was chosen by the Dallas Stars in the second round of the NHL Entry Draft in 2004 (52nd overall).
Throughout his professional career, Sawada played for several organizations, including the National Hockey League’s Dallas Stars and St. Louis Blues as well as the American Hockey League’s Texas Stars and Chicago Wolves.
Raymond Sawada, unfortunately, passed away from a heart attack on April 10, 2023, at the age of 38. Raymond was killed while participating in a recreational hockey game with the Richmond Cowboys.

A GoFundMe page set up by a family member claims that Raymond died just outside of Vancouver “while playing the game he was passionate about” on the ice.
While participating in hockey with the Richmond Cowboys, he passed away from a heart attack.
When the NHL Entry Draft was held in 2004, the Dallas Stars selected Sawada in the second round, and he finally made his way to Europe. Raymond Sawada participated in 11 NHL games with Dallas over three years.
Following his retirement from the world of professional hockey, Raymond began working for the Burnaby Fire Department in 2017.
In addition, he was a shining brilliant light in everyone’s life that he touched. With his wife Nicole, the daughters, and his loved ones, he cherished traveling.
Hockey prodigy Sawada was also a committed coach for his two children. Every move Ray performed was inspired by passion, and his loss will leave the community with a void.
