Rebekah Jones argues that when conducting a house search on December 7, Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) officers unlawfully took her computers, cell phone, and storage media.
Additionally, she alleges that they violated her right to due process, her right to the First Amendment, and her right to be treated fairly.
The lawsuit further asserts that during the search, an unnamed FDLE agent touched Jones’ stomach without justification or consent.
In an effort to get DeSantis’ support, the complaint also alleges that the FDLE tried to suppress the plaintiff’s online expression by confiscating her computer.
Why Did Rebekah Jones Lose Her Job?
Rebekah Jones, the person who served as Florida’s COVID-19 data curator, was sacked when she voiced concerns about the data.
She was criticized repeatedly, according to state records, before being let go for disobedience, according to state officials.
The department claims that Jones received repeated counseling for disregarding the agency’s rules on the use of equipment that is owned by the state.
