Two parents have been charged with murdering their child, who was just four months old.
Reece Kelly, 30, is suspected of killing Dallas Kelly in Workington, Cumbria, while Georgia Wright, 22, is accused of causing or permitting death.
Additionally, Ms. Wright is charged with two more counts of neglect and Mr. Kelly is accused with two more counts of ignoring Dallas and a second child.
They appeared in Carlisle’s North and West Cumbria Magistrates’ Court without entering a plea.
While Mr. Kelly, of Hunday Court in Workington, was ordered to appear at Carlisle Crown Court on Friday, Ms. Wright, also from Workington, was granted conditional release.

A father has been charged with murder following the death of a four-month-old infant boy in Cumbria.
Reece Kelly, 30, of Workington, is accused of murder and two counts of child abuse.
Cumbria Police have also accused Georgia Wright, 22, of Workington, with two offences of child neglect and causing or permitting a child’s death.
Detectives claim that the claims are connected to the deaths of a toddler and a four-month-old infant from Workington, England, both of whom passed away in October 2021.
They were both placed back into police custody and will appear in Carlisle court later on December 14.

Both have been held in police custody and are expected to appear in court in Carlisle on December 14 on charges related to the deaths of an infant who was four months old and a toddler under two in October 2021.

What Penalty Could Georgia Wright And Reece Kelly Receive?
Nearly half of all states with the death penalty consider the killing of a child to be an aggravating circumstance, raising the likelihood that the culprit would be executed.
As of January 2022, fourteen states allowed the death penalty for the murder of a child victim, and five states that later abolished the death penalty also had a child victim aggravating circumstance.
The standard justification for the death penalty in child homicide cases is that children are a particularly defenseless and vulnerable group of victims deserving of special legal protection.
The use of this form of aggravator by other governments, however, shows that this justification often only applies to infants and young children, not teenagers.
In addition, the circumstances behind teen murders are very different from those that result in the deaths of infants and young toddlers.
