Bio of Daniel Negreanu

Negreanu was born to Canadian parents Constantin and Annie Negreanu in Toronto on July 26, 1974. When Daniel was 16 years old, he started to get into poker, gambling, and pool hustle. Before leaving Pineway Public Middle School in North York to become a professional poker player in casinos and for causes, he was a student there.

Relationships Daniel Negreanu has had in the past

Negreanu has previously dated many different ladies. He was not just dating, but he had also recently been married. His short-lived marriage was to a Michigan woman named Lori Lin Weber. Having just been married for two years, he and Lori got divorced.

Negreanu blogged about the events leading up to his divorce from his wife in November 2007. He had been wrong to try to change Lori into something she was not. He even admitted that he was at fault, saying that the divorce was best for him and Lori because they remained close friends.

Negreanu started dating Evelyn Ng, a fellow professional poker player after his marriage broke down. Krisztina Polgar, a Hungarian beauty queen, was another woman Negreanu dated.

However, there was no further development in the connection. A Las Vegas stylist at Royal Tease Hair and Makeup named Marissa Rachelle Rodney, whom he was seeing, was instead made public in 2014.

At a welfare charity event the year before, the pair got acquainted. In 2018, they continued to be close by spending Valentine’s Day in Las Vegas. Even Instagram was used to share nice moments. The Valentine’s Day Negreanu’s fiancée had described as her favorite ever.

However, their romance quickly came to an end, and Negreanu shared the news of their breakup on his blog in late June 2018. He claimed their relationship’s incompatibility as the reason for their divorce.

Married his ex-girlfriend when they reconnected

Before his romance with Marissa Rachelle Rodney, Negreanu had a brief relationship with poker hostess Amanda Leatherman. They separated because their relationship didn’t work out at that time. The poker champion even revealed, in a 2014 interview with Spportbladet Poker, that he had a crisis after the separation.

But the split just made their relationship stronger. In 2018, Negreanu and Amanda reconnected, and they started dating. Thankfully, the Toronto native proposed to Leatherman in January 2019 by getting down on one knee.

The pair got hitched on May 17, 2019, at Terranea Resort in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, four months after they became engaged. Negreanu attended the event dressed in a blue suit, while his wife donned a white wedding gown with a V-neck lace pattern.

Player of the Year after rising from rookie

To realize his goal of becoming a professional poker player, Negreanu moved to Las Vegas. He frequently did well in Toronto and poorly in Las Vegas. Despite this, he persevered and eventually reached the 1997 World Poker Final. He won the award for best player overall. His best year to date was 2004 when he made 11 final tables and took home a remarkable sum of money.

He received awards for “2004 Card Player Player of the Year” and “WSOP Player of the Year” in 2004. By 2020, he had earned more than $42,053,305 from live tournaments overall. However, in the Doug Polk vs. Daniel Negreanu Challenge in February 2021, he was defeated by another poker player, Doug Polk, and lost $1.2 million.

Supports the Gay Community

Daniel is a vocal supporter of LGBT rights and was inducted into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2014. One of his Twitter followers enquired about his sexual orientation in July 2012. He just declared that he was not gay and that he was a great advocate for LGBT rights.

Later, in August 2012, Negreanu declared support for LGBT rights and the non-sinfulness of homosexuality. He also asserted that God created everyone equally, gay or straight.
