Burkhead has agreed to a $9.75 million, three-year extension with the Patriots.

Rex’s salary was cut from $2.5 million to $1.05 million during his final season due to a contract modification. The running back and the Texans agreed to a $1.5 million, one-year contract in 2021. He received a contract extension until the 2022 season, but no further information was given.

Rex Burkhead’s Fight with Cancer

Former NFL player Rex Burkhead has a long history of involvement with the Team Jack Foundation. The Team Jack Foundation works to increase awareness and money for brain cancer in children. Rex and Andy Hoffman, the creator of the non-profit, first connected while Rex was a player for the Nebraska Cornhuskers. Following the diagnosis of his kid in 2013, Andy founded the nonprofit. In 2020, Andy received a brain cancer diagnosis; he passed away the following year. The organization has raised almost $10 million since its founding, and Burkhead has participated actively in board meetings. Rex provided sponsorship for a charity event at Top Golf in Katy in 2022.
