Richard Hanson’s wife, Nancy, worked as a fitness specialist at the former Boston Sports Club in Newton. Up until the weekend before she passed away, Nancy continued to work there as a teacher even after it became the YMCA.
She is 54 years old and the mother of three handsome sons. The assault happened on Saturday night at their Brookline Street home, when her kids were also present.
Nancy’s husband is also accused of killing his wife two days after she filed for a restraining order against him.
The youngest son of Nancy and Richard just finished fifth grade at Memorial Spaulding Elementary School, according to their neighbor Staz.
The most painful event in the young children’s life was seeing their father beat their mother until she became unconscious.
Additionally, one of their boys called 911 to request help saving their mother after discovering that their father had been ruthlessly beating her with a baseball bat.
One of Nancy’s acquaintances was also on the phone when Richard attacked his wife. Then the acquaintance overheard many obnoxious noises, and the kids yelled, “Stop, you’re killing her!”
Additionally, according to the police, when they arrived at the home following the phone call, they found Nancy unconscious and with head injuries on the floor of one of her children’s bedrooms.

Richard Hanson allegedly hit his wife with a weighted metal barbell and a baseball bat, according to the prosecution.
Nancy was also sent to Brigham and Women’s Hospital, where doctors there declared her dead.
Blood was found on Richard Hanson outside the house, proving that his wife had been having an illicit relationship.
However, Newton resident Richard was detained without bail on Monday. He did, however, enter a not-guilty plea to murder and other charges connected to his wife’s passing.
According to court records, Hanson and his wife had previously requested restraining orders against one another and had both been arrested due to recurrent domestic conflicts.

Hanson was put on pre-trial probation with the condition that he attend alcohol therapy and desist from hitting Nancy Hanson after breaking his restraining order in 2021.
Nancy requested a restraining order last Thursday, claiming that her partner had seized her keys, stolen her wallet, and disconnected her phone.
The children of the couple have also been taken into custody by the Department of Children and Families.
