The claim against the animator, Justin Roiland, of domestic abuse and wrongful detention has been trending on social media.
Writer, producer, director, voice actor, and animator Mark Also directing is Justin Roiland.
He contributed the voices of Rick Sanchez and Morty Smith to the animated sitcom Rick and Morty, which he co-created for Adult Swim, until the network dismissed him in 2023.
His career in animation began with his work as a writer and voice actor for the Cartoon Network shows Fish Hooks and Adventure Time.
Rick and Morty, which made its Adult Swim debut in December 2013, was co-created by him with Community creator Dan Harmon in 2012.
The program soon gained a cult following and later rose to prominence as one of the most watched and respected animated programs on television.

A criminal complaint states that Roiland was detained in May 2020 following an altercation with a lady he was dating and charged with domestic violence and making false accusations.
Justin Roiland, an actor and co-creator of “Rick and Morty,” has been charged in Orange County, California, with felony domestic assault in connection with an occurrence that took place in 2020.
The Orange County District Attorney presented himself in court on Thursday for a pre-trial hearing after filing a criminal case in May 2020.
In 2020, Roiland entered a not-guilty plea. One of Roiland’s attorneys claims that his client is innocent and that the matter will be dropped.
“We look forward to clearing Justin’s record and assisting him in moving on as soon as possible,” stated attorney T. Edward Welbourn.
N.B.C. News was able to get the criminal complaint pertaining to the incident. It accuses Roiland, 42, of committing the felony offense of causing bodily harm while engaging in domestic violence as well as the offense of causing wrongful confinement through compulsion, violence, fraud, and deception.

According to several interviews, Justin Roland is not currently married and has never been married. His relationship with Abi Lyn Maley began in 2013. They apparently split up already.
He finished his final year at Manteca High School and received his diploma in 1998. During the first three months of his senior year, he went to Sierra High School.
After completing high school, he enrolled in Modesto Junior College in Modesto, California. Roiland suffers from dyslexia.
He was born in Stockton, California. Mark and Rebecca are his parents. Amy Roiland, his younger sister, designs clothing. He was raised in Manteca, California. Next to his childhood house was an almond grove.
