Joan was Conrad’s first wife, and they were married for twenty-five years. In 1977, the couple divorced after having five children. He encountered his future second wife, LaVelda Ione Fann, later that year. Before their divorce in 2010, the couple had three children.

Conrad’s sons, Shane and Christian, and his daughter, Nancy, each appeared on a few television programs. Joan, another daughter, pursued a career as a television producer.

For an extended period, Conrad was affiliated with the non-profit organization Bear Valley Search and Rescue in Bear Valley, California. This organization and his involvement in it served as the basis for the television series “High Mountain Rangers.”

Conrad collided with Kevin Burnett’s Subaru after driving his Jaguar over the center median on March 31, 2003. Conrad entered a plea of not guilty to felony offenses during his trial. Consequently, he was found guilty of operating a vehicle under the influence. He was sentenced to five years of probation, alcohol counseling, and six months of house confinement.

Burnett passed away at the age of 28 in 2005 due to perforated ulcers. The ulcers developed and exacerbated as a result of Burnett’s challenging recovery from the accident, as per his family. The accident resulted in severe nerve injuries for Conrad, resulting in partial paralysis of his right side.

On February 8, 2020, at the age of 84, Conrad passed away in Malibu, California, due to cardiac failure.

Conrad was employed full-time in Chicago for several years at the age of 15. He discontinued his academic pursuits to pursue employment as a truck driver and truck loader.

He pursued theatre arts at Northwestern University during his university years. Conrad pursued an acting vocation as a result of these studies.

A position that his mother was able to connect him to involved posing outside a Chicago theater where the film “Giant” (1956) was screened. This was one of his first paying roles. Conrad secured the position due to his resemblance to James Dean, the film’s protagonist.

In 1957, Conrad encountered actor Nick Adams, and the two quickly became close companions. Conrad articulated his aspiration to advance within the entertainment sector.

Adams recommended that Conrad relocate to California, as it was the location of all the significant components. Adams promptly secured Conrad a minor role in the 1958 film “Juvenile Jungle” after Conrad implemented his tips. He was able to become a member of the Screen Actors Guild as a result of this fleeting position.

Nick Adams assisted Conrad in obtaining an acting contract with Warner Bros. shortly after he relocated. Additionally, he released numerous recordings and sang with Warner Bros. In 1961, he achieved a minor Billboard success with the song “Bye Bye Baby.”

Warner Brothers produced a successful detective series titled “77 Sunset Strip” and a subsequent series titled “Hawaiin Eye.” In both series, Conrad played the role of detective Tom Lopaka. James West, a federal agent, was Conrad’s debut role in 1965’s “The Wild Wild West,” which was broadcast on CBS until 1969. He executed the majority of his stunts and fight sequences.

In addition to his role in “The Wild Wild West,” Conrad was involved in various commercial endeavors. He established his own company, Robert Conrad Productions, and collaborated with it to write, appear in, and direct the Western film “The Bandits” (1967).

Conrad received a star on the Walk of Western Stars in Newhall, California (now a part of Santa Clarita) in 1984.

Conrad was a candidate for the position of President of the Screen Actors Guild in 2005. He was inducted into the Hollywood Stuntmen’s Hall of Fame in 2006 for his contributions to the “Wild Wild West” series.

Conrad was the presenter of “The PM Show with Robert Conrad,” a weekly two-hour national radio program that aired on CRN Digital Talk Radio from 2008 to 2019.
