The automobile belongs to a Port Orange teacher who had been missing since October 25, 2020, according to the Volusia Sheriff’s Office.
On Saturday afternoon, it was discovered with a body inside a canal close to New Smyrna Beach. Port Orange Police are in contact with Robert Heikka’s family, according to a post from the sheriff’s office that was made at approximately 8 p.m.
Heikka’s automobile was found with a dead occupant inside, although no firm identification of the person has yet been established.
A 2012 Chevrolet Impala with the Florida license plate KRZ-I78 was found in a canal off Pioneer Trail near to the South Tomoka Wildlife Management Area, less than 6 miles from Heikka’s residence.

Robert Heikka: Who Was He? Heikka, better known as Bob, has worked for Volusia County Schools since 1989 and has been a teacher at Port Orange’s Creekside Middle School since 2002, according to authorities.
At the moment, he instructs students in business education, which also covers keyboarding and digital information technology.
Robert Heikka is a Caucasian man who is around 6 feet, 2 inches tall and weighs 250 pounds. He wears glasses and has gray hair, blue eyes, and blue eyes.
Investigators believe Heikka may be driving a white 2012 Chevrolet Impala with the Florida registration plate KRZ-I78.

According to Gant, volunteer search teams notified their office this afternoon that they had found a vehicle near New Smyrna Beach and that the license plates belonged to Robert Heikka.
It was sought after by volunteers, Recon Dive Recovery, and Sunshine State Sonar.
According to Mike Sullivan, a spokesperson with Sunshine State Sonar, “I saw what appeared to be the roof of the vehicle sticking from the water as I was coming around the corner we were walking down.”
Robert Heikka shouted, so I assume we’ve got him. The crews decided which bodies of water to seek after taking into account a person’s direction of travel and the last cellphone ping location.
Since October 2022, Heikka’s whereabouts have remained a mystery. They assert that Heikka’s home is near the area of New Smyrna Beach where his car was found.
