Brian Bourgeois, the leader of SEAL Team 8, passed away on December 4, 2021, after falling in Virginia while participating in a helicopter rope training exercise.
The results of the Army’s inquiry into Bourgeois’ death have not yet been made public.
According to Navy Times, the officer’s death was caused by a number of causes, including inadequate coordination between the aircrew and a partner ground unit and issues with the Army helicopter that Bourgeois was rappelling from.
