Ramirez also received three Combat Action ribbons and medals during the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq, among many other honors.
Robert is the second SEAL squad commander to pass away.
Brian Bourgeois, the leader of SEAL Team 8, passed away on December 4, 2021, after falling in Virginia while participating in a helicopter rope training exercise.
The results of the Army’s inquiry into Bourgeois’ death have not yet been made public.
According to Navy Times, the officer’s death was caused by a number of causes, including inadequate coordination between the aircrew and a partner ground unit and issues with the Army helicopter that Bourgeois was rappelling from.
